Slow Growing

It has been a few months now since I have posted and it's partly due to major hair frustration. It's mainly due to life events happening and time going by too fast!!  I have hit a wall with my hair! It has been growing and I have had a couple of "shape up" trims with the goal still being to have a one length bob. Unfortunately, I am not all that happy with this in between length, how my hair is feeling to me, and I am currently fighting a strong urge to cut it short again and be done with it, especially with this ridiculous heat in middle Tennessee!! I am trying hard to persevere for now though I think my hair is thinner due to some meds I have to be on for Rheumatoid Arthritis and that has me a little doubtful as to how good it will look when the front and sides catch up with the back. I guess I won't ever know until I get there. In the meantime, this photo was taken at my mom's 90th birthday party about 3 weeks ago. It looks like my hair is darker than it really is but it's bad lighting I guess. The style is not my favorite and I had too much hair spray on it that day. But it's the only current picture I could find of me. I will try to post a different (better) one sooner. In the meantime here is what's happening for now.....

  1. Enduring the same as you although earlier in the process, I have to say that some days it looks great while others it looks appalling. Maybe that's how it goes... pain before pleasure. Hang in there - I think it looks great and like the way it works with your skin tone. I'll post in a week or 2 too and you can see my very early stages. I'm at the stage where someone might say, "this woman needs to colour her hair - what is she waiting for ?".

  2. It looks beautiful to me Sue! We are our own worst critics I swear. You and I are at about the same length with the same goal, except I have been trimming my bangs. Now I see your picture and realize how far along toward grown out bangs I could be if I would just leave them alone! :)

  3. Sue,I read your blog front to back today for some encouragement. Wow! You look really, really, great with silver hair. You have really inspired me. I am only 2 months into the "gray grow out" and go today for highlights to (( hopefully)) help the transistion. If my end result looks like yours, I'd be sooo pleased! Thanks so much for your blog.

  5. Thanks for the update! This is a tough time in the growing-out stage, for sure. Mine's about the same length as yours...

  6. I stopped coloring my hair at about the same time you did. And, like you my hair, is taking forever to grow. My hair is dyed dark brown and at this time I sport shoulder length hair which is most obviously half white and half brown. It is hideous to me but I cannot pixie (am not brave enough.) And I refuse to color. So, I do what I must and face the world with this two toned mess. Oddly enough it is making me care less and less about what people think of my hair : ) You look wonderful!

  7. Sue - I think you look great! You could probably pull off any hairstyle. But, I feel your frustration! My hair is getting to that stage where it is no longer short, but in that in between stage. I've been debating going shorter and keeping a short style instead of growing out, too. But, I'd really like to see what my hair looks like longer. Enduring the grow out is getting tough!! Whatever you do, your color suits you!! Keep us posted!!

  8. Love your hair!! I'm in "transition" and a Silver Sister from GGLG.

I've worn my hair short and layered for so many years because I have fine, straight hair and a short, layered cut was the only thing to give me some body. HOWEVER, during this transition, I'm going to let it grow for a while and see how I feel. Maybe a bob??? I'll be watching to see your progress and like the girls on GGLG, you'll be another inspiration to me :)
